Pen's AND Pirates Win!

What a great Friday & Saturday night to be a Pittsburgh fan. The Penguins, with the exception of two Mike Richards garbage goals, absolutely took it to the Flyers. Even my 9 month old was getting pretty excited. Or she was taking a huge dump in her pants...but I'll go with the first one.

Well, like I said, besides the 2 goals in the first. Domination. And I'm glad The Pens Blog brought this to my attention (and everyone else). "If you went to the game, check for your wallet. Chances are Hossa pick-pocketed it." The Flyers could barely bring the puck up ice past center. And Marian Hossa had an awesome game at doing that. The whole night I was waiting for Mike Lange to let me know of the "talent, heart, or scoring depth" the Flyers posses. I waited until about 10:30pm. And the game was over. I'm sure Flyers fans will all be letting us know about Kimmo Timonen absence, and how HUGE of a role he's plays. Like I've heard before. The guy is not Bobby friggen Orr. No one ever really knew how big a part of the Flyers "D" he was. Until he got hurt. As for the Penguins. Can't say nothing about them. Malkin takes his second goal of the game via shorthanded after getting bell rung. Slow to get up and skating back into the Pens zone. Sergei Gonchar finds him at the Flyers blueline for an easy breakaway. Malkin, like in the Ranger series, doesn't deke. He walks in and uncorked a bottle of champagne all over Martin Biron. Or at least I think that was him, all I saw was a huge sive in net. I even saw beach balls in the stands float onto the ice and Biron, simply stepped to the side and let them go in. Kudos to Geno though for the nuts to even consider winding up like that. Besides the one timer short handed, Malkin also had another goal and an assist. Sidney Crosby helped the team by making in a tie game in the 1st period off a perfect redirect from Marian Hossa.

The Bucco's are on the verge of a sweep! AGAIN! Or at least halfway. No kidding. They won a classic bottom 9 walk-off hit from Freddy Sanchez to win 3-2. Then they just plain out pitched, hit, and scored the Braves in a 5-2 victory. Good games for both Ian Snell and Tom Gorzelanny. They both worked into the latter innings to final help out the bullpen, John Grabow, and Tyler Yates dismantled arms.

In game 1 of the series Friday night, the Bucco's had one key performer, Freddy 2 hit Sanchez. Sanchez knock in all 3 of the Pirates 3 runs. None bigger then the final run in the final inning. Nate McClouth went fishing as he was blanked with no hits. Even though Ian Snell took a no decision, he still went 7 strong innings on 2 hits and one earned run.

In game 2, Jason Bay was the hero. Going 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI. Gorzo pitch strong into the 8th giving up 7 hits on 2 runs. That oughta help the 5.97 ERA he now carries. Matt Capps, capped it off, with his 9th save in as many tries. Also newly aquired centerfielder Jason Micheal played in center going 3-4. Great, do we have a CF controversy already? They look to take 3 of 4 from the Braves today. Can it possibly happen? Let's hope
