Pirates Take 3 of 4; Pen's look to go up 3-0

Well, the Pirates got some good pitching...and then some not soo good pitching. In Game 1 of a double header, Freddy Sanchez got the Pirates on the board with a base clearing double. That would be about all of the scoring the game would see until the 8th. There, Ryan Doumit (who is pretty friggen hot at the plate right now), started things off with a double. Newly aquired Jason Michaels got Doumit to third on a fielders choice to the right side of the infield. THAT'S HOW YOU WIN BALLS GAMES (excpet having 4 errors, which the Bucco's had). Doing the small things helps though. Adam LaRoche declared at this time, that a deep fly ball wouldn't do any justice. So he decided to hit an even longer fly ball almost in the Allegheny. Zack Duke pitched 6 shutout innings of ball. Pirates win 5-0. In game 2 however, the Pirates, like the rest of Major League Baseball, couldn't beat Tim Hudson. Hudson went 7 strong, giving up 2 hits and no earned runs. He's a great candidate for the Cy Young. The Pirates however, looked awful. Starting pitcher John Van Benschoten went 4 lousy innings giving up 9 hits and 6 earned runs. The Pirates couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and the sweep was lost. But 6 of the last 7 ain't too bad. And now they head to St. Louis where the Cardinal's have been struggling. Losing 5 of there last 6. 3 game set with sissy boy Tony LaRussa and if the Buc's can sweep the series...they'll be at 21-20. ABOVE .500! Whoa. Good stuff.

The Penguins return tonight for game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. Game 3 will be at the Wachovia Center at 7:30pm. I'm sure I'll be stuck to my laptop listening to the call from Mike Lange. (Speaking of which, I wonder how that playoff mullet of Lange's color guy Phil Borque is coming along?) Then Pen's are still fighting the talks about getting favorable calls while Philadelphia struggles to stay out of the penalty box. A crock of crap in my book. If that were the case, then why not allow the 1st period goal scored by Sidney Crosby (That was obviously over the line)? Oh well, we won...up 2-0. If the Penguins want a clean shot of taking this series. Game 3 is a must! It seems like they get that door fully opened when they get that 3rd win in a row. Let's only hope. Pen's going for win number 11 of the need 16 to win the Cup!
<-------Looks good to me. Way to snag it with the glove Marty!
